Rivera claims U.S. junior all-around gold at 2023 Xfinity Championships

SAN JOSE, Calif. (August 27, 2023) – Hezly Rivera (Oradell, N.J./WOGA Gymnastics) claimed her first U.S. junior women’s all-around gold medal and two apparatus titles on the final day of junior women’s competition at the Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships Sunday afternoon.

Rivera topped the all-around podium with a combined score of 104.750 after two days of competition. The 15-year-old also took the uneven bars and balance beam titles with scores of 26.400 and 27.400, respectively. She scored a 26.760 on vault and a 24.200 on floor exercise.

Kieryn Finnell (Pittsford, N.Y./RGA) landed just behind Rivera to secure U.S. junior all-around silver with a 104.600 and also earned beam silver (26.700) and bars bronze (26.300). Izzy Stassi (Delaware, Ohio/Buckeye Gymnastics) was third in the all-around with a 103.550 and won vault with a 27.300. Reese Esponda (Missoula, Mont./Roots Gymnastics) of Roots Gymnastics went home with the floor title after a two-session total of 26.100.
